How to Prepare Your House for Exterior Painting

A beautiful exterior paint job is 80% preparation and 20% painting. While our professional crew handles the heavy lifting, scraping, and washing, there are a few things homeowners can do to prepare for our arrival.

1. Clear the Perimeter

We need clear access to the exterior walls of your home. Please move patio furniture, grills, potted plants, garbage cans, and toys away from the house. A clearance of at least three to four feet is ideal.

2. Trim Trees and Bushes

Overgrown branches brushing against the house can scratch wet paint and make it difficult for our painters to reach certain areas. Trim back any landscaping that touches the siding or blocks access to the trim.

3. Turn Off Sprinklers

Ensure your automatic sprinkler system is turned off for the duration of the project. We need the surfaces to be completely dry before, during, and immediately after painting.

4. Plan for Pets

Keep pets indoors or securely away from the work area. We will have ladders, equipment, and open paint buckets, so keeping furry friends away ensures their safety and ours.

5. Unlock Gates

If your backyard is fenced, please ensure the gates are unlocked so our crew can access all sides of the house.

What We Handle

You don't need to worry about the technical prep. We will handle the power washing to remove dirt and mildew, scraping loose paint, caulking gaps, masking windows, and applying high-quality primer to bare areas. We've got the hard parts covered!
